The criminal court of Saintes recently sentenced a 32-year-old man from Charente-Maritime to three years' imprisonment, two of them suspended on probation, for violence, threats and damage against two former partners, in Bordeaux and in the Pisany area.
A sentence served under electronic monitoring
Mr. Charles Bruguière, defence counsel, expressed reservations about the conduct of the proceedings, noting that "the quality of the debate did not live up to expectations". His client, currently suffering from deep depression, could not attend the hearing.
The defence questions the quality of the judicial debate
The defendant is also the subject of a separate, criminal-court proceeding, currently pending before the court of Poitiers, on rape charges that he "does not accept", according to his counsel.
